Part of experiencing the Christmas season is having that wonderful smell of pine trees, cinnamon and hot chocolate in your home. Whether you have a faux or live Christmas tree, you can add additional Christmas scents to your home for a fragrance-filled season. Here are a few ideas.
DIY Room Freshener
Make your own room freshener with a glass spray bottle and several simple ingredients. Inside the bottle, mix a quarter cup of carrier oil, such as almond or safflower, with 2 tablespoons of vodka and 15 drops of essential oil. Then simply shake and spray.
We’ve created three custom farmhouse scents for you to mix up, and free printable labels to go with it! To get them (and a slew of other fun Christmas printables), sign up here! (P.S. These printables work with Avery label number 94506.)

Boiled Christmas Scents
For a quick fix that will make the house smell like a Christmas tree, combine water and pine branches in a pot, along with a few bay leaves and a pinch of nutmeg. Simmer the mixture on the stove top to release the scent into the air. You can prep and store batches of room scents ahead of time by combining them in a large Mason jar to dump into a pot and boil before a party or on Christmas Eve.
Pinecone Potpourri
Pinecones are a simple and natural holiday decoration that won’t look out of place in your Christmas home. Gather pinecones into a basket or bowl, and then sprinkle 15–20 drops of pine essential oil onto the pinecones. They’ll smell like a Christmas tree when you enter the room.
Candles With Christmas Scents
Candles are a great way to add a scent to your home, especially if you burn the candle for several hours. Here are a couple of great Christmas candles to add to the spaces in your home!
