American Farmhouse Style: What got you interested in farmhouse style?

Stephanie: I’ve always been drawn to things that are old, rusted and have a story to tell. I love things that have belonged to others, were loved by them—and now I get to love the same thing. When I think of farmhouse, I think of simple yet cozy, and that’s exactly the feeling I want in my home.

American Farmhouse Style: Where do you get inspiration?

Stephanie: I get inspiration from everywhere! Sometimes it comes from something I see on social media or in a magazine, or things that pop into my head. I can see something, take that idea, and add my own style to it.

American Farmhouse Style: Where did the name “Boxwood Farms” come from?

Stephanie: My husband and I came up with the name; he came up with “boxwood” since we have so many at our home and they are very hardy plants (kind of like me!). I added “farms” because I always wanted to live on a farm like my grandpa did growing up.

American Farmhouse Style: Are there any vintage pieces you specifically like to collect?

Stephanie: My favorite pieces to collect are old kitchen scales—I have over 15!—and mini wooden bowling pins. For scales, I love knowing that someone used them to measure ingredients for a meal to share with family and friends. Mini bowling pins are so fun! I love finding them with names and bowling scores on them. I imagine how much fun someone had earning that award, and I display them proudly as if I was the one who had the high score!

American Farmhouse Style: Any tips on home décor?

Stephanie: Don’t forget to shop your home! Move things around from room to room to give them new life. And, as always, do what makes you happy!
