Whether you start right after Halloween or wait until Thanksgiving to crack open door the Christmas décor, getting your home ready for the holidays is a great way to welcome the season. For many farmhouse enthusiasts, it’s the highlight of the year, creating warm and welcoming spaces for hosting family and friends.
But how about decorating a mini-me version of your home? As a mom of three little ones 6 and under, homeowner Janan Assaf knows the importance of including her kids in the magic and joy of the season.

DIY Playhouse
Janan started her Christmas playhouse during the non-seasonal time .“I DIY’d this playhouse by painting it the same color as the main house, so the kids could have a ‘mini’ house to play in and enjoy,” she says. “I tried to mimic the décor in the playhouse with the décor and color choices of the main house, and tried to find mini décor items to decorate their playhouse.”
The result is this adorable and fun little playhouse that replicates the simplicity and elegance of the “big” house.
Christmas Playhouse Magic
To give it a Christmas playhouse makeover, Janan used the same bits of greenery and pops of color as she in the main house.
Details give the mini-home extra charm. “The little truck is probably my favorite unique Christmas décor item that I purchased last year,” Janan says. “It is so versatile and I was able to use it for the playhouse as well as in other areas in the house. The kids loved it as well.”
