Spring Is in Bloom… and So Is Our Table!
How spring flowers, candlelight, and color come together to create outdoor charm.
Happy Spring friends!
As longer and warmer days arrive, my heart is so happy to be back outside. Seeing the outdoors come to life after a long winter nap brings joy to my soul. Hearing the birds singing, the landscape turning green, and the flowers blooming is a gentle reminder of the wonderful days ahead.

I don’t know about you, but I find myself wanting to do everything outdoors, especially dining, and relaxing! It can get extremely hot here in Georgia in the summer, especially late summer, so outdoor dining is most comfortable for us in the spring. Granted, we are battling that pesky pollen, but it’s worth it to be back outside! Whether you’re setting a table for two or hosting a gathering, you can create a relaxing, welcoming, and beautiful table.
Everyday Joy
Adding charm and personality to your table doesn’t require a special occasion or purpose other than “just because.” If it brings you or the people around you joy, then do it! Have fun with it! Create memories and make the most of your moments together. You can add a few simple touches or go all out. I have put together some easy ways to add that extra special touch to your table.
- Flowers
Fresh flowers are a great way to bring color and vibrance to your table. Whether you walk out to your yard and cut them or get them from your local grocery store or flower farm, flowers add so much charm to your table. Depending on my mood or purpose, I love to create special bouquets with certain colors or flower types. If I am creating an arrangement for a special occasion gathering or party, I like to incorporate favorite flowers! For example, when we hosted my daughter’s Sweet 16 last spring, we included lots of lilies since they are her favorite flower. For this table styling, I included hydrangeas and roses, two of my favorite flowers, and coordinated them with the color theme. These simple touches show you care and put intention and thought into making the table special.

- Linens
Another amazingly easy way to add instant personality to your table is with linens. Tablecloths and napkins are great ways to introduce color, pattern, and visual interest to your table. If you don’t have napkins, no worries! A tablecloth can do the trick for sure, like the yellow and white linen tablecloth I used for this styling. I found it last spring and adored the color and ruffle detail. If you don’t have a tablecloth on hand that matches the vibe you are going for, think outside of the box. Use a blanket or even a bed sheet! These are great ways to repurpose pieces you already have in your home. You still get the same intentional look and feel as a tablecloth.

- Lighting
For this table, I added two candelabras and flameless candles because it was a windy day. I love using real candles though if it is safe and the conditions are right. Solar powered lanterns are also a great way to add light, texture, and visual interest. Since they come in such a variety of sizes, colors, and styles, this is a perfect way to add function and visual interest to your space. String lights are great additions too, especially for evening and night entertaining.

- Serving Pieces
If I have them available, I love to coordinate my plates for the occasion. Sometimes I splurge on some new plates if it’s for a party or special event, but if it’s a “just because” table, I look around my home to find the perfect pieces. Don’t be afraid to mix and match too! Not every place setting has to be the same.

This is a perfect time to use patterns and colors to create your perfect vibe. Beyond the place settings, risers are an easy way to elevate the look of food. They can be a traditional riser or something you are repurposing as a riser. Think of things you use in your home décor as a riser and then bring them outdoors too! Vintage books, brick molds, cutting boards, and crates are all great ways to add height, dimension, and style to your table. For my table, I showed a lemon cake styled on two risers. For an added punch of color, I added greenery between the risers. These little touches go a long way in creating appeal!
Whether you are enjoying a casual backyard dinner for your family, hosting a Mother’s Day tea, a birthday dinner, or graduation gathering, you can apply these tips to your table. Wishing you a great spring filled with lasting memories and beautiful spaces!

Tips for Arranging Fresh Flowers
Select a container appropriate for your stem lengths/height you want to achieve. Crocks, vases, pitchers, urns, and glass jars are all great to use.
Cut your stems to size for the container and trim them at an angle.

Remove extra leaves from the stems so that they are not in the water. You can remove all leaves, if you choose, especially if you are adding your own greenery. I like to leave just a few and add extra greenery like silver dollar eucalyptus.
Use a mix of heights, textures, and shapes for a well-balanced and visually interesting look.
If you want to keep your flowers fresh and lasting longer, change the water and trim the stems every couple of days.
