DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath
It’s February, so bring on the Valentine’s Day projects! We love adding touches of pink and red to farmhouse decor this month, and adding a homemade decoration or two is a must. Our guest today is blogger and crafter Liberty Brammer of B4 and Afters. She’s got a darling DIY Valentine’s Day wreath to share with us!
This beautiful heart wreath has a beadboard backing, and you can customize it for other color palettes if those suit your farmhouse style better. Let’s get going!
What You’ll Need:
- Heart-shaped wreath made from natural materials (I found mine for $2 at a yard sale)
- Scrap piece of beadboard
- Jigsaw or another small saw
- Strong glue, such as gorilla glue or epoxy
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Small white pom poms or cotton stem balls
- Optional: white craft paint
- Optional: metal or wood word art
What You’ll Do:
1. Begin by tracing the heart wreath onto the beadboard. Keep in mind that you want the heart shape to be a little smaller than the outside of the wreath. You don’t want to see the edges of the beadboard poking out from the sides of your DIY Valentine’s Day wreath. I angled my beadboard to run diagonally. You can arrange yours however you want.
2. Carefully cut out the beadboard using a jigsaw or another small saw. It doesn’t have to be perfect! You’ll hide it in the back of the wreath.
3. Use the glue to adhere the beadboard to the back of the wreath. Let it dry according to the directions, or about 24 hours.
4. Use white craft paint if necessary to touch up any areas of the beadboard that got scratched when you cut it out for your DIY Valentine’s Day wreath.
5. Hot glue the white pom poms or cotton stem balls around the inside of the wreath, to hide any glue that might be showing.
6. If you like, add a wood or metal word to the middle of your DIY Valentine’s Day wreath, such as one that says “Love.”
That’s it! It is so easy to upgrade a wreath with beadboard!
