Find the Perfect Items for a Room Refresh
Written by Victoria Van Vlear
Ready to be your own interior designer? If you’ve decided not to hire a designer and instead do it yourself, you’ll spend lots of time working to source items for your room refresh or remodel. Here’s how you can go about it.
This is part of our 7 Steps to Get Remodel Ready series! To get the full series and free printables to help you plan your room refresh, sign up here!
Know What You Need
First, make sure you have a clear list of items and elements you need to source, which will come from knowing what the room’s layout will look like, as well as deciding on a budget for the remodel.
Source Items One at a Time
Once you have the full list, you can start to source items according to how high they are in your priorities for the room. Take the element that’s your top priority, and start doing research on stores where you might get it, or companies who might provide the service.
Pretend you’re a designer. Shop online and in person to find the best colors, patterns or upholstery. Keep track of all your options so you can find the best deals (our handy worksheet will help you there). Then you’re almost ready to go start shopping!
