A Winning Christmas Tree in Silver and Gold
Writen by Victoria Van Vlear
Our Christmas Tree of the Year winner has a stunning tree with traditional colors and bits of sparkle.
Each year, American Farmhouse Style hosts a Christmas tree contest, and blogger Lynn Langford of At Home in the Wildwood was the 2023 holiday season winner who now gets her tree featured in the magazine. “To me, this tree is the magic of Christmas, seen through the eyes of children,” she says of her winning Christmas tree.
When it comes to themes and colors, Lynn is a traditionalist. “I’ve tried different themes, but I always come back to the traditional red, with silver and gold,” she says. “Sometimes I get inspired by ribbon or an ornament, like this year I bought the red and green plaid ribbon.” But for the most part, Lynn sticks with what she knows she loves. “It looks a little different every year, but other things are always the same,” she says. “There are always white lights, with red and silver and gold.”
Another constant is Lynn’s love for handmade ornaments. “I always love whimsical, handmade ornaments,” she says. For her 2023 winning Christmas tree, she continues, “This year, I added some little wood Santas with painted faces I made.” Each year, Lynn mixes her old favorites with new ornaments she’s bought or made. “I don’t use the same ones every year,” she says. “I now have so many.” This mix of new-plus-old creates a charming, yet traditional, tree that Lynn knows she’ll love in her Christmas living room each year.
