DIY Modern Farmhouse Mirror

Add a custom farmhouse mirror to any space in your house with these steps.

What You’ll Need:
- 3 x 6-foot plywood or OSB board
- 18 square 12-inch mirrors (Astra used the Blodlönn sets from Ikea)
- Wood glue
- 50 feet of 1 x 2-inch wood trim
- Brad nailer and nails
- Wood putty
- Sandpaper
- Painter’s tape
- Stain of your choice
- Paint brush or rag
What You’ll Do:
- Cut the plywood or OSB board to the finished size of the mirror. The dimensions here are for a 3 x 6-foot mirror.
- Lay out the mirrors across the board, spaced evenly. There should be a bit of wood showing around the edges of each mirror.
- Use wood glue to glue the mirror pieces onto the board. Let them dry.
- Cut four 6-foot pieces from the wood trim. Lay them out vertically on the board so they cover up the gaps between the mirrors. Use a brad nail and nails to secure them in place.
- Cut one 12-inch piece from the wood trim. Lay it horizontally between two of the vertical wood pieces, then trim off any excess so the piece fits snugly between the two rows of vertical trim.
- Cut out twenty more pieces of the same length from the wood trim. Lay them out horizontally on the board so they cover up the remaining gaps between the mirrors. Use a brad nail and nails to secure them in place.
- Use the wood putty to fill in the holes left from the brad nails, then allow it to dry. Sand down any wood putty that sticks out once it’s fully dry.
- Tape off the mirrors with painter’s tape and use a paint brush or rag to stain the wood in the color of your choice. Let it dry, then remove the tape and lean or hang your mirror on the wall.
