Growing up in the South meant that when fall finally arrived, it was cool enough to sit out on the
porch and enjoy the beautiful weather. I’ve always loved a good porch, front or back, and fall is the
perfect time to cozy it up for crisp mornings and a good cup of coffee.
I wanted this porch to feel cozy without making it complicated, so I started with what I already had:
a thrifted console, a pair of lamps, and an old tobacco basket. From there, I added natural texture
with grapevine wreaths, dried hydrangeas, woven baskets, terracotta, and other gathered pieces.
The pumpkins and fall foliage brought in just enough color without taking over the vignette. To tie
everything together, I made a simple dried hydrangea wreath using a thrifted grapevine wreath
and hydrangeas I had cut from my yard.
I carried those same textures and colors through the open shelving below, keeping the
arrangement simple and leaving some open space.
For me, that’s what makes a porch worth sitting on. It doesn’t have to be complicated. It just needs
to feel welcoming enough that you want to pull up a chair and stay awhile
